During her Undergraduate years, she was able to gain valuable training at prestigious establishments such as Moorfields Eye Hospital, Bristol Eye Hospital and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.  Over the years, she has worked at various NHS Trusts in London, Kent and East Sussex, gaining a wide range of experience and undertaking Lead roles in sub-specialities needing enhanced expertise. These include Education, Glaucoma, Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) and overseeing the day to day Management of the Ophthalmic Technician teams supporting the Eye

Service within the Trusts. 

She has over 10 years experience in assessing and managing Visual Processing Disorders (SpLD) and was the Lead Clinician for this service across East Sussex NHS Healthcare Trust, setting a successful service up from scratch. 

With many years of teaching experience at Postgraduate level, Ms Mirza continues to enjoy sharing her expertise within the profession and beyond.  She continues to be an advocate for reducing Health Inequality in eyecare and is part of a Research Network addressing this. Her interest in this area has seen her organise a number of successful patient education meetings.  Ms Mirza's commitment to Education has also recently seen her involved in Quality Assurance within the HEI, of aspects of Undergraduate training across several AHP professions, to ensure that certain HCPC standards are being met.  

She also works in a Voluntary capacity as an advisor of a charity for complex learning disabilities, allowing her to share her expertise.
